Altered Heart

Altered Heart

It’s time to take my heart off my sleeve –

unpin the rough edges,

smooth it out, look for tears.

It’s time to mend some holes and,

after a few alterations, gently stitch it

back where it belongs for the

 whole world to see.

  1. I can’t trust people who don’t wear their hearts on their sleeves, Candy, and I love the idea of unpinning the rough edges, mending my heart, with a few alterations, and stitching it right back where it belongs.

  2. This is so beautifully written. There’s something deeply brave about tending to your own heart—acknowledging the wear, making the repairs, and still choosing to share it with the world. Vulnerability like this isn’t weakness, it’s quiet strength.
