Groundhog Day in Pennsylvania
Crowds gathered, wearing puffy jackets,
wooly hats – braving snowfall to
await the great prediction
Silence fell as night waned
and light streaked the horizon
A collective prayer rose up for an end to winter’s icy grip –
a prayer there would be no shadow
Oh you really captured the moment of suspense ….and hope! I like the added detail of the sky. Thanks for joining in, Candy. Hope all is well in your world!

Very good poem. Everyone wants a cloudy day for Phil!
By the way. I found it very hard to find your post. It did not come up when I clicked on your site. Just a title page!

I only know about Groundhog Day from the film, Candy, so it was with great interest that I read your quadrille, which painted a clear picture in my mind of what it might be like, to be one of the crowd waiting for the lack of shadow.

I have read about Phil, but maybe the interest in shadow or not depends if you want to use skis or not.
