Tuesday Poetics with Lillian –
what are your dreams made of?
—
Seven-year olds are wise in the way of dreams –
which shows to avoid too near bedtime
In order to dodge sketchy dreams.
Which ones could lead to full-blown nightmares.
Shows that feature mummies or yetis
are at the top of the list, along with anything that dies.
Only shows that make you laugh are allowed.
I should have heeded the warnings.

I also prefer comedies “to dodge sketchy dreams”.

Hah….gives new meaning to when children procrastinate about going to bed…keep coming out for a glass of water etc. And then of course there are those who have the parent or sitter check in the closet and under the bed for monsters before they will get into the bed! 😉

Maybe the wisdom of the young is actually that you should respect your dreams… when we grow older we think that not being afraid of monsters makes us immune against nightmares.
