Sleep Interrupted

Tuesday Poetics with Lillian –
what are your dreams made of?

Seven-year olds are wise in the way of dreams –
which shows to avoid too near bedtime
In order to dodge sketchy dreams.

Which ones could lead to full-blown nightmares.
Shows that feature mummies or yetis
are at the top of the list, along with anything that dies.

Only shows that make you laugh are allowed.
I should have heeded the warnings.

To The Beast Of My Dreams

D’Verse Poets Pub -Poetry Forms – The sonnet
Bjorn is our host at the Pub tonight

To The Beast Of My Dreams

I thought I saw you yesterday
At our favorite grocery store
I smiled, then waved, then hollered, “Hey!”
You didn’t hear, or just ignored

I thought I heard you call my name
When I was walking on the trail
Was this some kind of childish game
That I was surely bound to fail

I dreamt about you through the night
I chased you but you ran away
When morning came with welcome light
The covers all in disarray

Assured me you were really there
Snoring like a grizzly bear

The Hopes and Dreams of a New Fridge

d’Verse Poets Pub – Chilling Out with Lillian

~

The Hopes and Dreams of a New Fridge

I’ve heard the horror stories from
the abandoned ones in the back room
they sport dents and bruises and
sticky spots that accumulated
after years of children’s art work
and rough housing – and their insides
stained and yellowed with age

I told them of my dream – of my
gleaming stainless-steel shell, clean and
pristine with no fingerprints or
vacation magnets to mar the shine
and inside, nothing but the freshest
organic produce, milk, and eggs
healthy juices and smoothies

and then the most beat up neglected
refrigerator spoke up with a wheezy
voice to tell me all the dents and stains
and sticky spots were badges showing
he was part of a family and he was loved

Dream Boat

Weekend Mini Challenge: Boats
Welcome to the Weekend Mini Challenge with Kim from writinginnorthnorfolk.com!

~
Dream Boat

a little boat floated out to sea
a boat that carried you and me

it gently bobbed upon the waves
we played we were a couple knaves

without a worry, no thought or care
we journeyed forward, unaware

until the wind began to blow
and waves to monsters seemed to grow

it tossed us over and around
up in the air – we will be drowned

we clung together – you and me
then suddenly it set us free

it was the sound of mother’s voice
that gave the monster little choice

my bear and I will sail no more
our dream boat will remain on shore

High Flying Dreamer

d’Verse Poets Pub – Quadrille #38 – Dream

Sweet dreams, De

High Flying Dreamer

I’m dreaming, scheming, seeming
to fly to the edge of the gleaming sun
then fall back to earth,screaming
with joy, hair streaming behind like a sail
inhale, exhale, breath slowly
let it flow, run downhill
until exhausted I rest in the
arms of Orpheus

Web of Dreams

Fireblossom Friday – “Perchance to Dream”

it’s all about those night time dreams in the Garden

Web of Dreams

held to this earthly life
by filaments of spidered
dreams I spin through
layers of night each
a web of its own
chasing lions through burning buildings
trying to find a lost locker combination
wearing only my slip –
until the rising
sun breaks the spell
that kept me captive to the dark

Lost In Dreams

At d’Verse Poets, Mish  has us singing our own tune,

Lost In Dreams

I follow the path
laid out for me
eyes wide open
but heart clenched tight
and when the sun goes down
I get lost in dreams

I spend each day
as others see fit
like a mannequin
no thoughts or feelings
and when the sun goes down
I get lost in dreams

I speak in words
that are not mine
opinions muted
until the day ends
and when the sun goes down
I get lost in dreams

I’m lost in dreams of you
lost in dreams of you
