Early Morning Snapshot
There was just a slight film
Of ice on the birdbath
Evidence of exposure to
A cold snap overnight
From the fog covered window
of my dark room I wipe a
small aperture from which
to view the depth of the field
beyond the fence
as I watch a cardinal bursts from
the bare branches of an
old oak tree in a flash of red

Very nice. I love all the descritions in this but the last image of the cardinal is spectacular. I can easily see it as a photograoh.

The fleeting crimson brings a smile to my face. It feels like hope, blushing…

Birdbaths are a microcosm of life – I love watching birds – and you have captured that in this poem, Candy!

I love the depth of field, then that burst of colour. Cool.

Actually I can see the picture… all in greytones except that cardinal.

Really captures a frozen moment but agree the burst of colour from the Cardinal adds the final touch.
