Wistful Gardening
every Spring I make new lists
seeds I want to start
plants I want to buy
bulbs I should move
natives that need divided
I buy a new journal to
track progress
and fails
record weather
bird sightings
butterfly activity
and every Fall I find those lists
tucked in the back of
an empty journal
Been there myself. I just came in from the garden. It was wonderful though I realize this past year has aged me a bit. I can squat for hours but getting back up is another story. Love your list, Candy.

“bulbs I should move”
Probably not how you intended it, but I read that as lightbulbs that symbolize new ideas we have, and acting on those ideas. Then how often we let those bulbs flicker in our minds until they burn out. Speaks to me.

Maybe we get lost in the garden and prioritize being happy than writing lists… maybe we should just remember anyway.

Yup. My planting journals never get written in either. But my hands are always dirty, so….

I sometimes buy notebooks for drawings, and I may actually make one or two drawings, but then I forget about it. It reminds me of your garden journals.

I love the resignation one feels at the end of this. The cycle is always moving. Fun read.

I had to chuckle because I certainly recognized the practice. Plans are always good, but once things start turning green you get sidetracked with everything growing.
