I’ve Got the Indigo Blues
Not the ordinary blues of
a rainy day or a cancelled adventure
Not the melancholy blues of
a romance that failed
Not even the deep-as-the-ocean blues of
missing someone special
I’ve got the indigo blues of
squashed hope and torched joy-
Just for now
It’s Quadrille Monday!
ohhhh those indigo blues! Well done! I like saying what they’re not….and then the devastating words
“I’ve got the indigo blues of
squashed hope and torched joy-“
But then you bring us back a little bit of relief by that final line
“Just for now”

Really like the rhythm and tone here, and the musing at the end. V nicely done.

Not really sorrow, but just the nothingness of blue

Oh, I know those indigo blues, Candy! I love the way you start with what the blues are not, especially the ‘deep-as-the-ocean blues of missing someone special’ – and then you reveal what they are!

Love your use of negation. Indigo blues don’t feel all that bad after all. Lovely write.

Wow, I really love the progression and comparisons. The ending with “squashed hope and torched joy” hits hard. The “just for now” brings a sliver of hope.

I love the complete and beautiful as it can be – closure – that the last words give. Lovely write!

I like how you said what it isn’t before saying what it is.
