Weekly Scribblings #57: Let Us Write (together)

How Does the Moon Stay Warm?
Does the moon get cold hanging in the dark sky
alone
with only distant star-filled constellations for company
at night
I could bring him blankets and a pot of tea – no
I shall
find another moon to sit beside him, hug him tightly
whisper
secrets from another world, jokes that make him burst into laughter, dance, sing out
love notes
This is beautifully composed, two moons will do quite nicely.

An absolutely lovely re-imagining of the prompt line!

I love the way the two-syllable lines whisper their message between the longer lines, Candy, and the kindness that radiates in this poem! We all need another moon.

I like to think the stars keep the moon company and provide warming light as well, but a second moon might be nice for poets and lovers!!

I enjoyed the whole poem, but the poem within the poem is a delicious delight! Love the imagery.

We had a similar thought – a lonely moon. I like the image of you sitting & having tea with the moon…
