Heart Signals

Heart Signals

I watched the fireflies flashing

Flashing secret signals of hope

Hope that somewhere in the darkness

Darkness that hides the cares of the day

Day that slowly fades into night

Night will hold the answer to its signals

Signals from one heart to another

Another night for lovers like you and I

(I fudged a little with the grammar )

How Does the Moon Stay Warm

Weekly Scribblings #57: Let Us Write (together)

How Does the Moon Stay Warm?

Does the moon get cold hanging in the dark sky
alone
with only distant star-filled constellations for company
at night
I could bring him blankets and a pot of tea – no
I shall
find another moon to sit beside him, hug him tightly
whisper
secrets from another world, jokes that make him burst into laughter, dance, sing out
love notes

Timeless Shockwaves

Timeless Shockwaves – a Tri-Fall

two black holes collided
combining
into one, sending waves
that have not subsided
aligning
energy to each other gave

and seven billion years
across space
the hum of this union is real
ripples like souvenirs
a slight trace
to touch this world, wonders reveal

just like black holes our hearts
converging
together become a single beat
not one, but counterparts
emerging
humming with synergy and heat

(I read a news article about two black holes that merged over seven billion years ago. The shockwaves just reached Earth last year. I was determined to use these black holes in a poem.)

On the Death of the Family Historian

On the Death of the Family Historian

She was the keeper of the portal
The one who held the only key
And I believed she was immortal
Asked only what pertained to me
Relied on her for memories
And now I sit out side that door
A box of pictures from a drawer
People without names or places
No tiny scrap of family lore
They stare at me with somber faces

Lenny

dVerse Poetics: On All Things Feline!

The cats are taking over at d’Verse Poets Pub

Lenny – (a Lannet)

*

We buried him beneath the garden bench

where I would take my morning cup of tea

to share the highlights of my yesterday.

I often thought I heard his rumbling purr,

although I knew it’s just my wishful heart

imagining that he was still around,

still chasing after bugs, both real and not.

Still crawling under sheets when I make beds,

still hiding deep within a paper bag

then jumping out to grab me as I pass.

He followed me around just like a pup –

a nosey, noisy, sleek white, furry friend.

Quiet unexpectedly we found him gone

and buried him beneath the garden bench.

Line 3 :: A—repeat of line one
Line 4 :: a—eight syllables
Line 5 :: b—eight syllables
Line 6 :: b—eight syllables

Moonlight Rondelet

in the moonlight
the blazing sun no longer queen
in the moonlight
magic appears, reason takes flight
and you and I stuck in between
can hear the spirits wail and keen
in the moonlight
