I Waited

I waited alone in my
room all night long
I twiddled my thumbs
I hummed an old song

I wrote a short story
a sonnet or two,
a limerick, acrostic,
free verse and haiku

I ate a stale cookie
maybe two or three
I went to the kitchen
and brewed up some tea

I tried playing cards
and my favorite board game
but all by myself
they were actually quite lame

I stared out the window
at a dark inky sky
Not even a star
twinkled back in reply

I waited all night
for that soft glowing face
I suppose the old moon
must be lost out in space

Over at d’Verse Meeting the Bar, Victoria is asking “Me, Myself and I …or is it?’
The challenge is to write a poem in the first person

Hiding Moon

image

gentle moon
hums a simple tune
with eyes closed
hides behind cloudy
blankets
thinks I won’t see him
I’ll free him from
listening to my
dreams or my
midnight screams
but I know I can
depend on him
my childhood
friend

With Closed Eyes

she always closed her eyes
when wishing on a star
she could not bear the scar
if there were only lies

some planet in disguise
bold, shameless avatar
she always closed her eyes
when wishing on a star

she did not realize
the moon strummed a guitar
hummed love songs from afar
with tender moonbeam sighs –
she always closed her eyes

Today at d’Verse Poets Pub, Gayle from Bodhirose has challenged us to write a Rondel
Meeting the Bar; the Rondel

Oneness

I am one
with the moon
and stars
the cosmic dust
of planets

I am one
with the sun
and clouds
the flow of rivers
the ebb of tides

I am one
with the music
of nature
the dance
of seasons

I am one
with the beat
of your heart
the pulse
of your being

Just Jot It January 26th – oneness

night sacrifice

I gaze up at night
to see the moon gazing
back at me
its muted light barely
cuts the darkness
it does not get the acclaim
the daytime sun garners
we do not lay under its
glow – soaking up rays
instead we sleep while
it keeps guard

it is unique in the sky

does it get lonely
I gaze up at night
and ask the man I see
if it is worth the sacrifice

Moon Dance

Tell me secrets of the stars
Tell me secrets of the stars
Whisper in my ear
Whisper in my ear
The stars whisper-
tell me of secrets, in my ear

Show me galaxies that dance
Show me galaxies that dance
Hold hands with the moon
Hold hands with the moon
Dance with me moon
Hands that hold the galaxies’ show

Sing the melody of the planets
Sing the melody of the planets
We’ll wake the sun with song
We’ll wake the sun with song
We’ll sing of the planets –
The sun song, wake with the melody

Sing with me songs that dance, hold the moon
Hand me the sun – we’ll whisper secrets
Wake the planets with the melody in my ear
Show, tell me of galaxies of stars
