I gaze up at night
to see the moon gazing
back at me
its muted light barely
cuts the darkness
it does not get the acclaim
the daytime sun garners
we do not lay under its
glow – soaking up rays
instead we sleep while
it keeps guard
it is unique in the sky
does it get lonely
I gaze up at night
and ask the man I see
if it is worth the sacrifice

Such a beautiful poem and it makes you stop and think… I am sure the moon doesn’t mind its sacrifice!
