Listen October

Listen October –

Why are you Golden-

Why are days Shorter-

Where is the Sun-

What do you say – eh?

Here says the Sun –

Just behind Clouds-

Just farther Away-

Still your bright Star-

Still shining above.

Night’s Glittering stars-

Show me the Bear-

Show me some Sisters-

Show me the Hunter

Look up – said the Sky

Emily Dickinson provided the inspiration in Fashion Me Your Words today at Real Toads.

Lady October

Over in the Garden we’re writing about October
~
Lady October

She’s wrinkled and worn
Her beauty fading fast
She limps through the days
Energy waning
Sleeping
longer each night
Dreaming
of lost youth
Shivering
under a hoarfrost blanket
Cold hands hiding her
warm heart

Turning

Transforming with Nature’s Wonders

Hannah has challenged us to find a quote to tickle our muses. Here’s one from Bob Dylan

“I can be jubilant one moment and pensive the next, and a cloud could go by and make that happen.”
~ Bob Dylan

___

Turning

my muse was hiding among
the gathering clouds
pouting,sullen,and dusky
when slowly a patch
of blue elbowed through
and I,
like a flower,
turned toward the sun

No Lady

In the Garden today we are finding inspiration in a poem by Ellen Kort

—-

She’s No Lady –

she rudely pushed her
way into the room
uninvited
unwelcome
she claimed she had
an appointment – then
pointed a long bony finger at
the frail woman in the bed
and hissed, “you’re coming with me”
over our protests she snatched
up the woman, laughed coarsely
and they vanished

Web of Dreams

Fireblossom Friday – “Perchance to Dream”

it’s all about those night time dreams in the Garden

Web of Dreams

held to this earthly life
by filaments of spidered
dreams I spin through
layers of night each
a web of its own
chasing lions through burning buildings
trying to find a lost locker combination
wearing only my slip –
until the rising
sun breaks the spell
that kept me captive to the dark

Captured

We’re writing a Quadrille at d’Verse  Poets where Bjorn is tending bar.
44 words using the word ‘Jar’
~

if I could, I would
capture your
smile in a jar
to comfort me
on cloudy days
or stormy nights
and when I’m cold or
feeling scared I
would open the lid
ever so slightly
to hear your laugh
and I’d be brave again

Bee Yourself

you buzz about like
you think you’re
a queen be(e)ing
rude, dismissive,
uninterested in any
thing but yourself

they all flit around
trying to gain your
favor – be(e)your favorite
worker, the most productive –
flowery words winging
through the room

and in the corner – all
alone, unimpressed, under
dressed, one solitary
bumbling be(e)ing
scribbles all he sees
into a poem

___
It’s about bees (in three stanzas) in the Garden this weekend

My Lacuna

the word rolls
effortlessly from
my tongue –
lacuna
it has a romantic
sound
the sound of
a cello playing
a silky feeling
like soft melon
in my mouth
luscious and exotic
hiding the true meaning
the empty place beside
me – the gap in my world
where I am stranded
since you are gone
