A Trolling Poem

d’Verse Poets Pub – Quadrille – Troll

——

A Trolling Poem

This poem has gone fishing –
trolling for words to give to you.
Tender words,
gentle words
that will make you smile.
Shy words,
humble words
that will make you care.
Words like a warm hug.
Words that will make you
fall in love

Waiting for the Equinox

Quadrille #75: Spike up a Poem

Waiting for the Equinox

This poem is ready to do that Spring thing
shed some layers, put away the sled.
It’s feeling a spike in gratitude – change
of attitude as that old sun creeps closer,
shines shinier, starts to warm the bones
of this winter weary poem

For You

d’Verse Poets Pub – Ch-ch-ch-ch-changes (Quadrille #71)

De is thinking about making some changes

This poem is no changeling
No lesser substitute
It’s the real thing
Imbued with twenty-four
Carat moonbeams
And diamond starlight
It is cloaked in nightingale song
The fragrance of sweet Cereus
It is the best it can be and
It offers itself to you

Three Cheers for This Poem

d’Verse Poets – Quadrille #70: Poems of Good Cheer

—-

Three Cheers for This Poem

Sometimes this poem just
Has to cheer out loud
Shake its inky pom-poms
And try a split (infinitive)
It just wants to schmear
A little cheer across the page
Without regret or fear
Of reprimand from words
Like serious and stiff (upper lip)
Hooray!

Protest Interrupted

d-Verse Poets Quadrille – Spoiler Alert!
Lillian wants us to ‘spoil’ a perfectly good Quadrille

Protest Interrupted

I wanted to protest against the
Clouds threatening to spoil this
Sunny day – paint homemade signs
march in circles on the beach
I looked up – saw pinks
And yellows painted across the blue
Sky and I knew the sun was in love

Poetic Asides Nov PAD – Day 21 – write a protest poem

Longing for Winks

d’Verse Poets Pub – Quadrille #68: Winkle, Winkle, Little Poem

De is tending bar at the Pub tonight. Stop by and give her a *wink*

Longing for Winks

This poem has grown weary of
Trying to be clever, whenever
All it really wants is to catch
Forty winks – to slink off to bed
Get some beauty sleep with sheep,
Instead
This poem winks at the stars
And beams at the moon

Confessions of a Night Owl

d’Verse Poets – Quadrille #67 – early
Kim is hosting our Quadrille Monday at the pub this week.

Confessions of a Night Owl

There is no early in this bird
No worms to catch
This bird like to snooze in
The early morning
Likes to roll over and catch
A few more winks
This bird hangs with the
Owls – hooting in the dark
Inside a book

The Lady

It’s Quadrille Monday! at d’Verse Poets
Lillian is tending bar today and our word is Harbor

The Lady

They left her standing, alone
Keeping watch over the harbor
A welcoming committee of one
In a green dress and sandals
She harbors ill-will toward none
Who pass her way – the lost, the tired
The searchers, adventurers –
Each looking for safe harbor

A Tiny Ember

d’Verse Poets – Quadrille #64 – Quick!Write something!
Dee is tending bar today and looking for some quickness from us

A Tiny Ember

it didn’t happen quickly –
Rather
a slow magical process
a bit by bit transformation

no spark that burst to flame –
Rather
a tiny ember that glowed within
warmed my soul

my heart

fed my muse
until I turned from poet
into poem

Renewed

d’Verse Poets – Quadrille #63 – Feel the Earth move

Renewed

take me back to the earth
to the sun and the rain
let me feel with my feet
the wet grass, the soft mud
where my soul can take root
become nourished again
buds of peace start to bloom
take me back to the earth
