The Quality of Dust
The quality of dust is not measured in abundance,
but rather in the fineness of its particles.
True dust contains no lumps or identifiable
bits. It is silken to the touch and rises easily
on wisps of air. True dust settles silently
atop flat surfaces and collects in corners without
fanfare. It is a magical powder that appears
just before visitors arrive to keep us humble
and grounded. True dust is ever present,
waiting patiently in mid air, hovering over
our busy lives, until it finds stillness. It can not
be caught or trapped, or tricked into vanishing.
True dust is the constant in this human-made world.
I like how you made it sound so incredibly soft and silky!

Very nicely done. I love how dust is an everpresent part of life!
I liked this line…

just before visitors arrive to keep us humble
and grounded.

Donβt you just hate that. I am genuinely allergic to dust. And pollen. All the ever present parts of living on earth.

Yes it’s neverending and will be there long after we are gone!
If we are dust and to dust return then like the dust we will never go?

I enjoyed your take on the quality of dust, Candy. Youβre right about dust and the fineness of its particles, Iβm always finding it, but then having two cats does increase it. I especially like the lines:

fanfare. It is a magical powder that appears
just before visitors arriveβ¦β
