I Really Wanna Know

shorter than average
a compassionate soul –
tears at the ready
a bit stubborn (according to some)
restless in a creative way
flexible (thanks to yoga) –
yes, I can go with the flow
a quiet force for change
down to earth especially
under un-manicured nails
artist disguised as a peasant

Today at Real Toads, Kelli wants to know – Who are you? – in 50 words

A Nod to the Bard

The quality of mercy
is not negotiable
you can not barter
for a larger measure
you can not hoard it
like a miser
although you beg
and plead it is given
only from the heart of
the compassionate
unto the meek and humble
hubris will not gain favor
or conceit feel its tender
touch
it can not be bought
or sold and its value
can not be numbered
The quality of mercy
is a gift

It’s all about Shakespear today in the Garden

Hope N’at

We sat along the crick waiting
The sky was unusually blue
the blue of joy
We packed our lunch
chipped chopped ham sandwiches
and planned to stay all day
if necessary
It was the day the iggle hatchlings
were due to fledge
After years of pollution from
still mills and factories the air
and rivers around Pittsburgh
were fresh and clean
and the iggles were nesting again
The first bird took flight and
as we looked over the hill
toward dahntahn
we were filled with hope n’at

I had  a little fun in the Garden using some of the words you hear in the Pittsburgh, PA area

Remains

she spent her life accumulating
bits and pieces that
meant something to her
reminders of friends
family, vacations, pets
shiny trinkets, tacky knick knacks
each one held a memory
and she smiled at the sight of them
now the remains of her life
as being sold at a flea market
destined to become another’s memories

Real Toads  – Day 16 (just 1 day late)

Red Tail Hawk

I twirl and pirouette in
a choreography all
my own accompanied
by music unheard by
human ears
down below I see
you peering up at me
in awe of my
aerial ballet

Today in the Garden, Hannah has us thinking about the awesome natural world.
Day 9 – Transforming With Nature’s Wonders

50s nonconformist

040

I didn’t know it but
she was ahead of her time
the other mothers
baked and cleaned
she gave her time
to help the poor
the other mothers
played cards and sewed
she read books and played piano
My mother didn’t
conform to her peers
She taught me well

Day 8 in the Garden is all about those women who influenced the world with their courage and bravery, the suffragettes, or the women who influenced us.

Wayward Words

compounded, confounded
windblown words
swirling, curling
upward as if some
kite, a plaything
fishtailing on an
updraft without
a fishnet
leaving me speechless
clueless – wrung out
limp like a soggy
dishrag without
a voice

We’re playing with compound words in the Graden  today
