Heart of Stone

d’Verse Poets Pub – Quadrille #45
Mish is throwing rocks in the Pub today

Heart of Stone

what i know about rocks could fill a
rocket
or not
i know they can be thrown
and skipped
dug up
and buried
painted
sometimes they rock when
stepped on
what I’ve learned about rocks
is that they hold great mysteries
in their hearts

Silent Stones

Fukuroo–Who? Who? Who? dVerse Haibun Monday

Silent Stones

I have ben painting animals on rocks – this years Christmas gift project for my best friends. The ones who will not snicker when they open the package. One calico cat is finished and it looks at me with a bewildered expression as I cover another small rock with white paint. This stone is destined to become an owl for a friend who throws shoes at the squirrels in her garden. I have no illusions that this owl will do anything other than make her smile.

Ode To A Brave Warrior

It’s Odes, Poems of Praise,  at d’Verse Poets Pub where Frank is tending bar

Ode To A Brave Warrior

there once was a brave warrior
who went boldly into battle
she faced her enemy with
noble determination
accepting each victory with
humble grace and gratitude
she was a kind and loving hero
with a hopeful heart
there once was a brave warrior
who fought with all her being
until the enemy surrounded her
and she moved on to join the
warriors who went before

Helloooo

it is a conundrum

of astronomical proportions –

when I put my eye to the eyepiece

peer into the heavens

searching for blackholes

poked into the fabric that

covers our planet

is there someone looking back?

Stray Poem

d’Verse Poets Pub – Quadrille #44
De is getting a “kick” out of writing a Quadrille today
Here is my #2

~

Stray Poem

this poem has been kicked
to the curb
locked out of
the house
shut down
dumped

its been rained on
stepped on
flung into a tree
covered with snow

abandoned like
a stray

until my heart
opened a window
and beckoned it
to return

Pricking of My Thumbs

d’Verse Poets Pub – Quadrille #44
De is getting a “kick” out of writing a Quadrille today

Pricking of My Thumbs

it was a sharp kick(le)
in my pumped up ventricle
to discover you were fickle
it left me feeling sick(el)
and now I’m in a pickle
I’m left without a nickel
my thumbs begin to prickle
mixing up some chicle
turn you into pumpernickel

How silly!

Night Noises

d’Verse Poets Pub – Quadrille #43 – creak
Night Noises

what is that creaking,
keeping me from sleeping
I’ll not be peeping
from beneath my quilt
it might be creepy spirits
streaking through the air
or some sneaky vampire
seeking out my cheek
a havoc wreaking freak
– mustn’t shriek
mustn’t squeak –
Eek!

Moving On

Poetic Asides
Wednesday Poetry Prompts: 415 – write an I Believe You poem

Moving On

I believe that you can
not drive my car,
choose my direction,
determine my destination
I will plot my own course
follow my own star
and when I look in
my rearview mirror
I will see you standing
in the receding past

The Hopes and Dreams of a New Fridge

d’Verse Poets Pub – Chilling Out with Lillian

~

The Hopes and Dreams of a New Fridge

I’ve heard the horror stories from
the abandoned ones in the back room
they sport dents and bruises and
sticky spots that accumulated
after years of children’s art work
and rough housing – and their insides
stained and yellowed with age

I told them of my dream – of my
gleaming stainless-steel shell, clean and
pristine with no fingerprints or
vacation magnets to mar the shine
and inside, nothing but the freshest
organic produce, milk, and eggs
healthy juices and smoothies

and then the most beat up neglected
refrigerator spoke up with a wheezy
voice to tell me all the dents and stains
and sticky spots were badges showing
he was part of a family and he was loved

A Shell of Hope

d’Verse Poets Pub – Quadrille #42 – hope
De has filled the pub with hope

~
A Shell of Hope

we coat our hearts with
a fragile shell of hope

trying to protect it from
the chips and cracks

that will inevitably occur
we seal those chips and cracks

with patches of tolerance,
knowledge and love

making our hope shine
brightly amid the darkness
