Cosmic Love

sun confetti floats around
the room settling
on every surface

are you in those motes
have you become a
speck in the universe

if I listen to the wind
will I hear you laughing
do you whisper to me

in a snowflake
is that you tapping
on my window

when it rains
I stand alone in the
night waiting to feel

your kiss in a moonbeam
you are gone and still
I search

Feeling Beamish

There once was a gal who felt beamish
Not prudish or timid or squeamish
She was feeing frabjous
As she strapped on her shoes
And went wading to catch rainbow fish

Victoria, over at the d’Verse pub is asking for some humor (What is sillier than a limerick!?)

She challenged us to use some fun new words.

Defying Gravity

how do i shed this
cloak of gravity
assume some levity
put on a silly hat
mismatched socks
a red nose
how can i kick off these
shoes of gravity
assume some levity
float to the moon
or the top of a tree
go on a field trip with
a flock of chickadees
be my helium
lift
me

the prompt at Poets United is “gravity”

Morning Delusions

I sit on the porch swing
watching as night shrugs
off its gray shawl and dawn
slips on a rosy pink sweater
My morning tea sends up
luscious swirls of Earl Gray mist
and my mouth begins to
water in anticipation of
the first bite into a cinnamon scone
I open my eyes and smile
inwardly knowing that a mug of
tea and a scone are my reward
for rolling out of bed even after
the sun is already on the job
and night has long since retired

star gazer

On a rare night when there is no cloud cover, I stand in my yard and marvel at the stars shining above me. I identify constellations and image the mythological beings in the skyscape. On a trip to the high plains of Arizona I stepped out into the night, looked up and saw uncountable stars and constellations playing out the ancient stories in the sky

uncountable. stars
shine down on grazing cattle
Arizona night

Chocolate Trouble

I didn’t mean to eat
the whole bag – just
one bar, well maybe
just another
They were intended
for witches and pirates
and ghosts who roamed
the dark streets
And now I hear them
stomping up the front
porch steps, giggling
And shushing each
other – too late to turn
off the lights and pretend
I’m not home
My doorbell chimes as
if it is at Westminster
There is no escape and
I smile guiltily as I deposit
boxes of raisins into
outstretched bags and
pumpkins
“It’s better for them” I
mutter to myself

Dear Me

Dear lovely head, hold thoughts of hope and joy – do not let darkness in.
Dear sparkling eyes, find the beauty in all you behold – it is there.
Dear pixie ears, listen to the music of nature – in all seasons.
Dear smiling mouth, do your best to speak truth – but always kindly.
Dear gentle hands, reach out to give aid to others – and accept aid when you are in need.
Dear slender fingers, touch others with love – hold tenderly those who are precious.
Dear faithful feet, travel the path of your own making – the crowd is often headed in the wrong
direction.
