I am Air
I breath it in
and speak it out
in puffs of thoughts
formed into words
I breath it in
and shout it out
in curses of anger and despair
I breath it in
and sigh it out
in fervent whispers of hope
I am air
and breath
and life

Beautifully succinct.

I’m so glad you took part in the prompt and linked up to OLN, Candy. I have a virtual pulmonary rehab session later this morning, and your poem has got me breathing. I especially love those ‘puffs of thoughts formed into words’.

Hope your session goes well and glad my little poem helped

That is an interesting observation. In Norwegian, the words spirit (“ånd”) and breath (“ånde”) are very related.

This is beautiful and it resonates for me. The rhythm and structure of the poem itself feels like breathing. I like the way the emotions progress but cycle back to hope.

“Breathe, breathe in the air..” (Pink Floyd)
Your verse goes well with that great song.
