call it sleight of
hand
or is it sleight of
heart
you are a
master magician
the ultimate in
prestidigitation
when I wasn’t
looking
you captured
my love

Just Jot It January 25th – prestidigitation
A place for poems and pics
call it sleight of

or is it sleight of

you are a

you captured
my love

Carpe Diem #904 – Kazahana (snowflakes)
it must have been
some
magic spell
compelling me
to sit outside
beneath the moon
though it was
wintery –
not June
but as I tipped
my face to see
that gentlemanly
orb spied me
and sent a
moonbeam
to my cheek
a little kiss to
start my week
oh, surely I had
been compelled
by magic
moonbeams
as they fell

Just Jot It January 24th – compelled

do you think
amid the background
noise of human
companions
a cat
proud feline
fierce hunter
wonders how he
ended up on the
wrong side of
the glass

It’s Play It Again, Toads! in the Garden
I’ve chosen Words Count With Mama Zen (2014)
It’s Sunday which means another Collaboration For Peace! Mish and I are happy to share our creations and hope that they can inspire you in some small way.

i am the blue of nature
the orange of a sunrise
purple clouds at sunset
the crisp red of autumn
yellow sunflower petals
i am tumbled, jumbled
pieces – a kaleidoscope
ever changing, shifting,
being recreated

tulip bulbs sleep
beneath a blanket of snow
waiting for spring
if I stepped out
into space would
you hold tightly to the
tether thats holds me
to my earth,
my blue planet
would you reign me in
if I grew weary of
exploring, seeking
you – the air
I breath
the sun that
wakes me
the moon that
kisses me at night
if I stepped boldly
into worlds unknown
would you follow
trailing behind
guiding me home again
if I stepped lightly
into space
would you be
my tether
or start the
countdown
letting me
float
a-
way

the challenge today in the Garden is to write an new poem based on one of
David Bowie’s songs – I keep humming the melancholy Space Oddity
I’ll be posting at dVerse Open Link too
they are trembling
checking batteries, stocking
pantry shelves with
bread and toilet tissue
they are panicking
glued to the weather
channel, staring
out the windows
revving up the snow
blowers
I am smiling
books and afghan
at the ready
finding felicity
in a winter storm

Just Jot It January 22nd -felicity

some days I am mittens
holding tight – fingers
clasped around my
feelings
safe and warm within
my knitted life
comforted by simple
things
some days I am gloves
fingers stretched out
to touch the world
grabbing all of what
this life can offer
reaching for the
stars
some day I am mittens
some days I am gloves

Just Jot It January 21st – mittens
candle flickers
casting plum blossom shadows
moonless night
