Even a gentle breeze will cause
me to stumble, starger down
this tilted, angled staircase
Cracks hamper my decent
and my instincts tell me to
stay awake, alert for the
spirits who cling to the
underside of these steps
waiting for me to go astray
Will they catch me, save me,
keep me from bruising my shins
and my ego or will they just
smile
——————-

Nice take on the prompt

We must guard our shins and our egos. Shins hurt more, egos hurt longer.

The spiral stair spirits often have their own agenda that is beyond our ken. An interesting one.

If they are hanging out under the stairs, they are probably just naughty and will only smile when you fall. I imagine them smoking cigarettes and telling dirty jokes; laughing too loud…naughty spirits. ;-p

They might do all of those things…the underside of steps are curious places but much wisdom can be found there
