a firefly caught
I look at him
what have I got
the light is dim
here in the shade
it comes and goes
but in the glade
the sunlight flows
I told him lies
his light still shone
but if he dies
can I atone
returned to lawn
he’s quickly gone

To release the firefly is the best thing you can do.. There is something very fleeting in your words.

A light shining bright, may be temporarily dimmed by a lie ~~~ if it is steadfast, it will not flicker and die. I enjoyed your poem.

This makes me so sad but in a happy way if that makes any sense….! Goodness I love this intimacy with the firefly…so special.
