Apple Blossoms

White apple blossom prophets

Foretell of sweetness

Tiny swelling at the base

A promise to the gnarled

Old tree, a sign of its

Usefulness, its reason

For existing

And in old age a

Child becomes our prophet

(written for Imaginary Garden With Real Toads)

  1. Sharp truth in the ending lines:

    And in old age a

    Child becomes our prophet

Thanks for participating with Real Toads and wishing you happy weekend ~

  2. Flowering apple trees are a favorite thing of mine. When linking to a challenge at Toads, please link to the specific poem, not just to your main page as a whole. People shouldn’t have to scroll down to find the right poem. I fixed this one for you.
