A Place to Shine

dVerse Poets Pub — Quadrille 117 — The Dude Abides

A Place to Shine

Stars grew weary of the day.
They twinkled their hardest and
still could not outshine the bully Sun.
They danced and sparkled until
some burnt themselves out,
some collapsed. The gentle
Moon opened its arms wide and
beckoned to them, “Come, abide with me.”

Namaste

d’Verse Poets Pub – Quadrille #116: Poem Those Possibles

Namaste

We find ourselves twisted and stretched
Into Impossible positions – Eagle arms,
bridges, chairs, up and down
dogs. Sometimes we are
mountains, sometimes
dolphins or camels. Then slowly breath in,
breath out coming back to heart center–
armed with peace,
facing a day of possibilities.

Medicine for What Ails You

d’Verse Poets Pub – In need of a happiness project?

Quadrille #115 – happiness

Medicine for What Ails You

She’s been happied again.
A large dose of giggles washed
down with extra silly filled her
soul – left it overbrimming with joy.
Just when things were looking grim
in rushed the experts with games
and flights of Imagination that only
eight-year olds can summon.

Star Envy

d’Verse Poets Pub – Quadrille #114 – Poetical Magnetism

Star Envy

I think the moon has a
mag(ic)net that it
throws across the
inky sky. I find myself
drawn outside, looking up,
hoping for a glimpse of
glow, sliver of shine
from this untouchable
lodestone. I envy the stars that
bask In its magnetic nimbus.

A Woeful World

d’Verse Poets Pub – Quadrille #113: Blanket Us

A Woeful World

If I could, I would cover this
World with a warm blanket
to ward off coldness that
has settled around it, to smother
flames of hate that burn and scorch.
I would wrap it around quivering
shoulders, to comfort and
wipe away bitter tears.

Secrets

d’Verse Poets Pub – Quadrille #111 – What’s That Rustling in the Eaves?
Kim has us doing a little ‘eavesdropping’ in the Pub

Secrets

The sound of rain dropping
From the eaves takes me back
To a wet summer night
To a wooden cabin and girls,
Giggling from their bunks,
As they eavesdrop on
Their counselor kissing a boy
Behind the building where
No one would ever know

Bummer

Quadrille #110: Shall we bum around a bit?

Bummer

This poem is feeling rather bummed out.
Tired of just bumming around, all alone,
unable to even bum a ride with a friend
It’s turning into some kind of fashion bum,
In gummy waist pants and baggy shirts,
sitting around on its round bum.

The Golden Hour

d’Verse Poets Pub – Quadrille #105: Cry Havoc and Let ‘SLIP’ the Dogs of War
http://dversepoets.com

The Golden Hour

It happens just before the sun slips
out of sight, behind the pine covered
hills. Those few moments when the
whole of my world is painted gold,
as if King Midas touched his finger
to the trees and houses
and they shimmer in delight.

Stress fixer

Quadrille #104: Oh, We’re in a Fix.

Stress Fixer

This poem is virtually
Exhausted from zooming
All over cyberspace, an
Avatar of a masked
Bandit in an old film
It has grown weary of
Recipes, cat videos
Going viral in a viral world
This poem is going to fix a cup of tea

Silly Wherefore Art Thou

d’Veres Poets Pub Quadrille Monday – Lighten up a bit!
Lillian has us looking at the ‘silly’ side of things.
http://dverespoets.com

Silly Wherefore Art Thou

What has happened to silly,
that willy-nilly, slightly
frilly state of giggling quite
shrilly until you very nearly
lose your breath?
When words like piccalilli
or vanilli leave us
in a dilly due
to really, really
watery eyes. Oh, how
we need some silly.
