Poetic Asides – PAD 26 – “love or anti-love”
Go ahead walk
a mile in my shoes
try the sneakers
(you might have to run)
or the zebra striped flats
stay away from the new
canvas ones – they pinch
if you choose the garden
boots wear socks to
avoid nasty blisters
penny loafers will transport
you back in time – if
you wear them too long
flip flops are always fun
I recommend the aqua pair
Go ahead take a walk
in my shoes ’cause I’ll
be dancing barefoot

I made a wish up-
on a star and
it came true
I’m wishing for a
do-over

Poetic Asides – PAD 22 – Star (blank)
I have no office
just a comfy chair
and shelves with books
where I can close my eyes
and dream of letters dancing
across a stage, twirling in the
spotlight, doing the tango
together until at last,
exhausted, they fall in a
heap of tangled words
i pick them up and
set them free
I have no office
just a comfy chair
where I can dream

Master List
they are on the blacklist
not invited to this party
where gaudy zinnias
and lavish glads
show off their best bloom(er)s
sunflowers with their toothy
grins stand proudly in
the back row
black eyed susans wait
patiently in a ring
hoping to be chosen
refreshing water is poured
from a tin vessel
but the ground ivy
is flatly refused entrance
for it is not on the
list written on soggy paper
by the muddy garden master

Can you tell I’ve been planting and weeding in the garden all day?

Poetic Asides PAD 15 – use at least 4 of the words in this list –
flat, ring, lavish, vessel, paper, blacklist, gaudy, tooth
Something For Me – a Shadorma
please carve some
time out of your life
some love out
of your heart
save a little piece of you
something just for me

Poetic Asides PAD 14 – “time out”
Who took
my last cookie
the one I was saving
chocolate chip with
walnuts
Who snitched
my last cookie
while I brewed a perfect
cup of tea
Who pilfered
my last cookie
and left an empty
package on the shelf
Who made off with
my last cookie
the only one I wanted
Who swiped
my last cookie
when there were
snickerdoodles too
Who pirated
my last cookie
Arrrrr!!
Who purloined
my last cookie
leaving me longing
pining
yearning
for that gooey
crunchy circle of
nirvana

defend
your heart my
mother always said
but
this is not a fight
this is true love
and I surrender

Poetic Asides April PAD Day 11 – defensive
her silly antics made me laugh a
great big loud guffaw escaped and
floated through the atmosphere
I giggled til I thought
I’d burst and blushed a
shade of red – guess
it’s true I’m
tickled

Poetic Asides -April PAD Day 10
Choose an emotion and make it the title of your poem

in this meeting voices
drone – blah, blah, blah
and my brain engages
in battle
pay attention/
go ahead, doodle
sit up striaght/
love your slings and arrows
take some notes/
your umbrella is so divine
make eye contact/
Oh, flowers!
smile and nod/
geometric shapes, perfect
say something, contribute/
make more circles
at last both sides agree
meeting is adjourned
