Pie In The Sky

Poetics ~ Recipe Poems
Mish has us cooking up some poetry over at d’Verse Poets Pub

Pie In The Sky

Something’s stirring
Perking, brewing
Stewing
I feel it simmering
Bubbling
Threatening to boil over
A half-baked plan
With no recipe
And I’ll serve it up
Garnish it with
Multi-colored sprinkles
Put it on your plate
Watch you slurp
All the love I can dish up

Let Peace Flow

When you see sorrow
of another
Let joy flow from
Your soul
To cover the dark in light

When you hear hatred
toward a neighbor
Let love flow from
Your heart
To cover the hard in softness

When you feel the anguish
of humanity
Let peace flow from
Your mind
To cover the shattered in healing

Collaboration for Peace – 18

Another collaboration brought to you by Mish and I. Have a peaceful day!

Out on a Limb

Hearts begin beating

With innocence

Untainted and pure

Helpless they long to be

Loved and nourished

Expecting nothing more

Than other hearts
To improvise
Join in, synchronized

To their sweet song

Tendril Mercies

image

“Roots” by Frida Kahlo

I was alone
abandoned
rejected
My world was
cracked
barren
I cried salty tears
of despair
praying for
absolution
redemption
And they watered
the hope which
was buried
almost dead
Slowly tendrils
of mercy
embraced me
and love returned

Covered in Poems

The world is covered in an ocean of poems
That ride in and out with the current(affairs)
They are a tsunami of emotion

A tidal wave of rebellion
We splash and play in the surf of words
And picnic on beaches of smooth syllables

We wiggle our toes in trickles of rhyme
And bathe ourselves in cool rhythms
We are tugged by the undertow of language

Until we’re drowned in a wave of love letters

Memorizing You

At Real Toadswe’re Under an Influence for the Weekend-Mini
I used Memorizing “The Sun Rising” by John Donne, by Billy Collins as my inspiration

~
i tried to memorize
your eyes
your nose
your mouth

so that when you
were gone
(or maybe i)
the image would remain

i tried to remember
the feel of
your skin
your hair

your breath on my neck
so that when you
went away
(or maybe i)

some sense of you would remain
now here, alone, they fade but
from the next room
from the next town

your image
your touch
are the beats of my heart
that i call love

No Satisfaction

A flower was offered to me
but I wanted a garden
A tree was offered to me
but I wanted the forest
A raindrop was offered to me
but I wanted the storm
A moonbeam was offered to me
but I wanted the night
A grain of sand was offered to me
but I wanted the beach
Your love was offered to me
but I wanted your soul
