Free Falling
I stood on the brow of the mountain
watching clouds cast shadows below me.
Vultures were gliding on warm currents of air.
As I watched, a single yellow leaf released its grip from
a bare tree branch, twirling in a free fall of delight.

Free Falling

And There is Beauty
Hug a lonely tree
Listen to its heartbeat
Weep for the fallen leaves
Gather them in bushels
Spread them on a blanket
Whisper to them of love
Press them against your heart
Hang them in a window so they can feel the sun
Tell them they are beautiful
Write them into a poem
The prompt over at napowrimo.net today is to write a “prompt poem”
Carpe Diem Weekend-meditation #3 – Troiku
on the river
lights float to the horizon
the dead rejoice
© Basho
And here is my attempt at a Troiku based on Basho’s haiku
~
on the river
autumn leaves sail downstream
yellow boats
lights float to the horizon
drifting with the current
fallen leaves
the dead rejoice
in the change of seasons
earth lies fallow
Carpe Diem Winter Retreat 2016
Find the Silence – 4
~
leaves on the ground
breeze passes by silently
bare branches sway

It’s time again for a Quadrille over at the Pub . The theme is ‘leaves’
The Magician
chewing on leaves
until show time –
hanging upside down,curling
your body into a J, wrapping
yourself in a gold studded shell
no cheap parlor trick – this
is the real thing –
you emerge
wearing a black and orange
cloak and
fly away
nibbled holes in leaves
butterflies sipping nectar
smooth shiny beetles
yellow jagged leaf
drifts silently to the ground
under the maple

the prompt this week at Haiku Horizons is “under”
