Moving On

Poetic Asides
Wednesday Poetry Prompts: 415 – write an I Believe You poem

Moving On

I believe that you can
not drive my car,
choose my direction,
determine my destination
I will plot my own course
follow my own star
and when I look in
my rearview mirror
I will see you standing
in the receding past

The Hopes and Dreams of a New Fridge

d’Verse Poets Pub – Chilling Out with Lillian

~

The Hopes and Dreams of a New Fridge

I’ve heard the horror stories from
the abandoned ones in the back room
they sport dents and bruises and
sticky spots that accumulated
after years of children’s art work
and rough housing – and their insides
stained and yellowed with age

I told them of my dream – of my
gleaming stainless-steel shell, clean and
pristine with no fingerprints or
vacation magnets to mar the shine
and inside, nothing but the freshest
organic produce, milk, and eggs
healthy juices and smoothies

and then the most beat up neglected
refrigerator spoke up with a wheezy
voice to tell me all the dents and stains
and sticky spots were badges showing
he was part of a family and he was loved

A Shell of Hope

d’Verse Poets Pub – Quadrille #42 – hope
De has filled the pub with hope

~
A Shell of Hope

we coat our hearts with
a fragile shell of hope

trying to protect it from
the chips and cracks

that will inevitably occur
we seal those chips and cracks

with patches of tolerance,
knowledge and love

making our hope shine
brightly amid the darkness

My Tall Lamp

Poems of Garden Gnomes – THAT AIN’T RIGHT!
What is just out of reach of your left hand? – it is the stuff of poems (written by garden gnomes)

My Tall Lamp

it does not care who
needs its glow or why
it shines its 60 watts
for anyone who asks
and does not judge or
criticize it spreads its
incandescent warmth
on my blank page
chasing shadows from
my thoughts and erasing
the darkness from a
moonless night

Night

d’Verse Poets Pub -Quadrille #41 – spice
Mish is ‘spicing’ things up at the pub today

~

Night

the dark and empty night would
have no shine without the
moon to light the way
the sky would be a flat
slate overhead without the
clouds to add softness
there would be no spice
if the stars did
not wink down on us

Moon Questions

d’Verse Poets Pub -The answer is 42
Borjn is looking for questions at the Pub

___

Moon Questions

what does the moon see from
its perch high above?
does it see the clouds and
storms that swirl?
does it see the ocean rise up
in anger?
does it see the earth cracking
apart, cities crumbling?
what does the moon hear from
its perch high above?
does it hear winds howling
across grasslands?
does it hear crying coming from
each corner of the globe?
or is the moon so far away
that earth is a pleasant blur
of blue and green and the cries
are just a whisper?

Rainy Day

It’s rain(rein)(reign)ing in the Pub today

Rainy Day

it’s raining toads and frogs
and pink spotted hogs
I’m jumping in puddles
of pudding with sprinkles
when clouds of horses gallop
overhead and I grab the reins
and ride to the kingdom of
Bumbershoot where the Queen
of Wellies and the King of
Macintosh reign and
old men snore

Praying for Rain

Praying for Rain

I pray for rain – a fervent
supplication for
heavy, driving rain to wash
away my tears
I pray for clouds to reign
in the sky – blotting out
all traces of the sparkling sun
a grayness covering the memory
of your smile
I pray for thunder that rumbles
rattling windows and shaking
my soul until it becomes numb
and I can trudge onward
I pray for winds to whip and toss
my sorrow into tatters – small
pieces that can be endured
one at a time
I pray for the calm that follows
a storm where my grief can
learn to live

Free Love Poem

d’Verse Poets Pub -Quadrille #40 – free
Dee is asking for some “free” poems over at the Pub
~
Free Love Poem

this poem tries to speak freely
a little genteelly, but really
it wants to shout words that
do wheelies, leave tracks you
could follow, fee-falling head
over heelies, straight through
clouds of free(zing) crystal
sentences it gathers into lines
of (free) love for you

Thoughtful You

d’Verse Poets Pub -MTB — The Acrostic

Frank has us writing ‘letters’

~

Thoughtful You

This crazy life
Had me spinning
Out of control
Unsure where to
Go – what to do next
Hope was just a flicker
Trying to chase darkness
Failing to comfort me
Until you offered
Love
