Free Love Poem

this poem tries to speak freely
a little genteelly, but really
it wants to shout words that
do wheelies, leave tracks you
could follow, fee-falling head
over heelies, straight through
clouds of free(zing) crystal
sentences it gathers into lines
of (free) love for you

Time Enough

Time Enough

We stroll through life
thinking we have enough time
to say all the things that
are in our hearts
do all the things that
are in our minds
pray all the prayers that
are in our souls

We rush through days
with our eyes closed
trying to do it all
worrying we aren’t strong
enough or smart enough
or rich enough but
always thinking we have
enough time

Until the day when that one
who was strong and smart
brave and kind is gone
then we know there is never
enough time

Book of Words

Words Count with Mama Zen – counting words in the Garden
pick three words – write a poem and don’t go over 60

-The Words:

mimicry
testament
rapture
cool
dachshund
cherubim
heretic
infinitesimal
convenient
serendipity

Book of Words

It was a book of words
that left me in a rapture
a discovery of pleasure
I had to share
Each day I chose one word
that I would repeat and repeat
a testament to my devotion
words that became my mantra
morning and evening devotion
until the heretic appeared and took
away my dictionary –
thanks a lot Mom

Thoughtful You

Frank has us writing ‘letters’

~

Thoughtful You

This crazy life
Had me spinning
Out of control
Unsure where to
Go – what to do next
Hope was just a flicker
Trying to chase darkness
Failing to comfort me
Until you offered
Love

Hurricane

FASHION ME YOUR WORDS TO ~ stretch the imagination
Pondering natural disasters today

Hurricane

Mother Moon placed her
howling baby into the calm water
a bath to sooth the child’s tantrum
but baby splashed and kicked in rage
the water rose up, frothy
and toy cities filled with people
were tossed and buffeted about
small cars floated like boats
roads became rivers
until the child wore itself out
fell asleep amid the ruins

Just Us

PUT A LITTLE LOVE IN YOUR HEART…
Who doesn’t love Garden Gnomes
~
Just Us

It started like a bonfire
burning wildly in the night
threatening to become
uncontrollable, dangerous
a conflagration
consuming us both
but we held tight – wouldn’t
let go until the flame became
our friend, warming us
comforting us, drawing us close
and now that flame burns steadily
a constant glow
lighting the dark places
a beacon to guide us home
a fire that will not die
as long two hearts beat
