I held the sun within my hands
Its warmth and light were mine alone
No other creature felt its touch
No plant would feast from sunlight’s hand
No lake or sea would sparkle, flash
With diamonds placed upon each face
I thought I heard a crying sound
The sky was weeping raindrop tears
Of loneliness and dark despair
I knew in time I must let go
Release the rays and let them shine
Upon the aching tear-stained land
