Why Bother

d’Verse Poets Pub – Quadrille #126 – Come “bother” up a poem

Why Bother

This poem didn’t bother to get
dressed – just stayed in its pjs all day
not bothered by the flapping
of its slippers or the flopping of its
hair-do, hoping no one will bother it
until it doesn’t have to bother
masking its feelings

Quadrille #126 – Come “bother” up a poem

Poem With a Plan

d’Verse Poets Pub – Quadrille #78: Rise

Poem With a Plan

This poem had a plan –
stay up all night and
watch the sun rise
Watch the morning
ablutions of doves in
the green birdbath
To sip some Earl Gray
as the sky turns pinky blue
This poem woke up on
The couch at noon

Aced It

Quadrille #77 – Ace of Poems
De (whimsygizmo) is testing us over at the Pub

Aced It
This poem is a rhyming ace
Has won first place
In a poeming race
A great big smile upon its face
A sassy curtsy performed with grace
It’s no longer commonplace
Claimed a spot in cyberspace
For you – in case
You require an embrace

A Trolling Poem

d’Verse Poets Pub – Quadrille – Troll

——

A Trolling Poem

This poem has gone fishing –
trolling for words to give to you.
Tender words,
gentle words
that will make you smile.
Shy words,
humble words
that will make you care.
Words like a warm hug.
Words that will make you
fall in love

Rolled Over by the Good Times

d’Verse Poets Pub – Poetics: Mardi Gras Mambo

Rolled Over by the Good Times

This poem is flat on its back
Decked out in beads
Passed by and forgotten
Its party days are over
No words left to dance through
These vacant lines on blank paper
It will now march to the beat
Of a different meter – slow down
Become reflective, introspective
Make each syllable accountable
Tread hand-in-hand with its muse
On soft iambic feet

For You

d’Verse Poets Pub – Ch-ch-ch-ch-changes (Quadrille #71)

De is thinking about making some changes

This poem is no changeling
No lesser substitute
It’s the real thing
Imbued with twenty-four
Carat moonbeams
And diamond starlight
It is cloaked in nightingale song
The fragrance of sweet Cereus
It is the best it can be and
It offers itself to you

Three Cheers for This Poem

d’Verse Poets – Quadrille #70: Poems of Good Cheer

—-

Three Cheers for This Poem

Sometimes this poem just
Has to cheer out loud
Shake its inky pom-poms
And try a split (infinitive)
It just wants to schmear
A little cheer across the page
Without regret or fear
Of reprimand from words
Like serious and stiff (upper lip)
Hooray!

Breaking Out

d’Verse Poets Pub – Quadrille #62 – Thinkin’ Inside the Box

Breaking Out

This poem feels boxed in
Wants to rock out
Twist and shout
Become unorthodox
This poem would like to
Break the mold
Try something bold
In colored ink create
Designs upon its box
That make you think so
Maybe you’ll become
Unboxed with it

Unzipped

d’Verse Poets Pub – Quadrille #54: Zip It!

Unzipped

This poem has lost the
zippity
In it’s doo-dah
It’s buttoned down
Zipped up seriousness
Until it grabs a rope
And zip lines to the
Party side of my heart
Where darkness is
Banished by a sea of
waving Zippos and
hippy-dippy zippy tunes
