Write a “self-destruct” poem
No Regrets
this poem is on the path to self-
destruction
it drinks in moonbeams
to excess
and inhales the smoky incense
of lavender and thyme
it stays up all night to
commune with the stars
and consumes the sweet
nectar of spring blossoms
until it is in a stupor
this poem is on the path to self
destruction
and it has no regrets

whosoever finds this broken heart
is entitled to a reward
upon delivery (patched
and mended with fine stitching)
to its original owner
said finder must not
drop it into a postal box
reward will only be granted
if hand delivered

Write a triangle poem
~
Rhythm Band
the triangle just
kind of dangles from
a piece of string
most children do not choose
it from the box of
noise making instruments
it makes a tiny tingling sound
a merry jingling sound
a not too loud sound
it does not clang
like the cymbals or
rattle like maracas
it does not call
attention to itself
like the drums
but there is always one
the quiet one, the shy one
who loves the magic
of the triangle

Thin Disguise
she slips on her disguise –
it fits her like a silky red chemise
hiding imperfections
a disguise so perfect
no one will see her true self
the self filled with anxiety
the self consumed by insecurities
her smile and tinkling laugh
conceal the darkness

morning sashays in like
a woman in a red dress
who knows everyone is watching
she pushes the darkness
into a corner where it will
cower until her glow turns
and strolls away

Canada geese fly
united
by instinct
divided only when one
leaves the formation
