untethered

Day 18 -Poetic Asides PAD- life or death

untethered
there is a fragile line between
life and death
one you can cross only
once
there is no turning back
no
do-over
and when you hop that
line
you go alone
all the things that tethered you
left behind

NaPoWriMo Day Eighteen – Neologism
We’re making up words today

~
Vacation Pics

I always pack my camera or
At least my phone (same thing)
I’m that person snapping away
While the tour guide drones on
About some obscure moment in
The history of this building or
That person – details I’ll never recall
Instead I’m capturing the beauty –
Architecture of each city
Flora and fauna of every village
And hamlet, the people living their
Everyday, ordinary lives
Storefronts and houses
Reflected in every door,
Outlined in every window I find
Myself, camera in hand- proof
That I was there ’cause
I have taken a ‘doorfie’

Miss(under)stood

Over // Under // Through –
We’re getting challenged today in the Garden

~

Miss(under)stood

I didn’t even get through
my explanation of why
I was over (the moon)
about him before he
turned and walked away

I turned too and ran
into you, stumbled over
my words, fumbled
through an apology
then noticed your
kind eyes, smiling face

and knew I was
over him

Dream Dancing

NaPoWriMo Day Seventeen – a nocturne
~

Dream Dancing

I sit alone sleep
will not come
day has long ago
dissolved into night
and the memory of you
is slowly fading
like the light
I grasp for scraps
of memory that glow
like embers in my mind
and fan them gently until
they warm my heart
my eyes begin to close and
we are once again dancing
In my dreams

Wind Blown

NaPoWriMo Day Sixteen – letter-writing

~
Dear W. Wind,

I did not mean to ignore you or
Seem rude when I slammed the door
As you breezed by

I just ran inside to grab a coat
And maybe a hat and some mittens
You gave me the cold shoulder the

Last time you passed my door
You tried to enter through the loose
Window in the kitchen when Spring

Was already invited for tea
Please, Mr Winter Wind, call ahead
So I can reset the thermostat

Build a fire in the fireplace
Put on some long-johns and fix
A steaming cup of hot chocolate

In The Moonlight

NaPoWriMo Day Fifteen finds us in the middle of something

~

In The Moonlight

Standing in the middle of
A pool of moonlight
I feel the spirits of ancestors
Gently embracing my soul
Tenderly hugging my heart
Then the gloomy shadows of night
That frighten me evanesce and
I’m no longer afraid

Foodie

A Clerihew for NaPoWriMo Day Fourteen

Foodie

Guy’s traveled all over the world
Sampling goodies whipped up and swirled
From coast to coast in diners and dives
You’re no one until he arrives
