Contrails

We leave a trail
as we pass through
the atmosphere
of each day
The vapors of each
word and action
follow us –
heavy, dark lines
of unkindness
airy stripes of
peace and love
that show our
true direction

Special

Carpe Diem Special #205 – Sara McNulty’s first “tree frog serenade”

Here is my attempt inspired by Sara’s haiku

first light
sparrow and finch compete
singing contest

Red Tail Hawk

I twirl and pirouette in
a choreography all
my own accompanied
by music unheard by
human ears
down below I see
you peering up at me
in awe of my
aerial ballet

Today in the Garden, Hannah has us thinking about the awesome natural world.
Day 9 – Transforming With Nature’s Wonders

doodle wars

in this meeting voices
drone – blah, blah, blah

and my brain engages
in battle

pay attention/
go ahead, doodle

sit up striaght/
love your slings and arrows

take some notes/
your umbrella is so divine

make eye contact/
Oh, flowers!

smile and nod/
geometric shapes, perfect

say something, contribute/
make more circles

at last both sides agree
meeting is adjourned

50s nonconformist

040

I didn’t know it but
she was ahead of her time
the other mothers
baked and cleaned
she gave her time
to help the poor
the other mothers
played cards and sewed
she read books and played piano
My mother didn’t
conform to her peers
She taught me well

Day 8 in the Garden is all about those women who influenced the world with their courage and bravery, the suffragettes, or the women who influenced us.

Sevenling

the gentle moon peeked in
smiled at me
sang me a lullaby

the morning sun appeared
shook me awake
without sweet song

tonight I’ll draw the drapes

De is tending bar at d’Verse  Poets Pub and has challenged us to write a
Sevenling. Here’s my attempt.
