d’Verse Poets Pub – Poetics: Limbo
Take a break or keep writing? I think I know the answer to that.
—
Left Behind in May
this poem has been left hanging –
languishing in limbo, cast aside,
out of date, too late for PAD
it is twiddling its thumbs
humming on an empty stage
with its meter running low
it’s a free verse for the taking
marking time on sore feet
until opportunity comes again
as leaves flutter down
I have drafts somewhere too. There may be a better time to post it in the future. I like your take on limbo poem.

I have a few of these, Candy, left languishing in poetry limbo, just waiting for a prompt or a call for submissions to breathe them back to life. I love the image of a poem ‘twiddling its thumbs / humming on an empty stage’ – one of our many poetic children hoping to be in the school play or concert.

the drafts gather up and moulder as half-borns – some great visuals here and I especially like “humming on an empty stage”

Nice line: “with its meter running low”

I think we all have those little poems
scribbled and torn;
unborn
waiting to be
a sonnet
a song.

My apologies for replying so late – life and work intruded.
Smiles – indeed, and the last line is so well turned.
Thanks for adding to the Limbo prompt
