D’Verse Poets Pub -Poetry Forms – The sonnet
Bjorn is our host at the Pub tonight

To The Beast Of My Dreams
I thought I saw you yesterday
At our favorite grocery store
I smiled, then waved, then hollered, “Hey!”
You didn’t hear, or just ignored
I thought I heard you call my name
When I was walking on the trail
Was this some kind of childish game
That I was surely bound to fail
I dreamt about you through the night
I chased you but you ran away
When morning came with welcome light
The covers all in disarray
Assured me you were really there
Snoring like a grizzly bear
i like the whimsy in this

I often dream that my husband has walked away from me, abandoning me to my own defences, or ignoring me. This made me laugh, especially the ending.

Fun sweet suspenseful popping sonnet. Oh those lovely beasts. Nice when dreams get substaniated into corporeal substance, even if they snore. I am winding through the trail late in the month. This one was very fun

also, love “the covers all in disarray” implies layers of story in one sweet line.
