Moving On
–
I was weeding my flower beds today. A chore that had been neglected much too long. If you need some alone time, I recommend weeding. No one ever wants to help, so you have time to just think, sort things out, make some plans.
Not far from where I was working, a cricket chirped. I smiled – it sounded like a cheery hello. Another chirp and I moved on. Maybe it was a warning to keep my distance.

I love the idea of listening to and communicating with the crickets while you pulled weeds all around them.

No doubt someone pulling weeds is, to a cricket, tantamount to oncoming tornado! Great haiku,

Candy, I love this. My job in the garden is weeding and dead-heading and, like you, I find it to be so meditative, Zen-like. Glad you listened to your little cricket friend.

So this is the key to being alone, lol. I love how we all interpreted the crickets’ sounds differently.

I love weeding gardens! It is great therapy! A single cricket to accompany you is all you need.

A lovely intimate moment, just you and the crickets, Candy. A cheery hello is always welcome when weeding..

Weeding, like blue penciling poetry, is hardly ever fun–but oh how wonderful you feel when you’re done & see the results. Odd to come across a solitary cricket–but then poets pick up on minutia.

I know what you mean by weeding – no one helps me too. Love the hello, from the chirping cricket.
