You Fill Me Up

I Once Used an Earthquake–dVerse MTB: Symbolism
Victoria is tending bar today at the Pub

You Fill Me Up

the refrigerator stood alone
in the kitchen
bright and shiny on the outside
almost empty on the inside
everyday it gave and gave
never questioning or complaining
always in the middle of gatherings
and parties but somehow feeling
left out, overlooked
then he came with bags
of love and hope
and it felt full again

  1. Oh candy how sweet! In the middle of it, I thought you were going toward the magnets, and holding important things, moments, reminders. But this is just wonderful. Thank you.

  2. See how personification can be such a powerful form of symbolic thinking. I’m thinking this is the first time I felt sorry for a fridge, but maybe not–when I had to give away old ones that had such a history. Layered poem.
