Weekend Mini Challenge: Thought Animals
Kimis our host in the Garden this weekend
A Poem Takes Flight
~
Like a small caterpillar
My thoughts grow
Fed with nibbles of ink
And syllables
Bit by bit they become bigger
Until they’ve out grown
Their small skin – shedding
Unwanted ideas and trite phrases
Growing longer and wiser
My words curl up, take a break
Transform into a poem
Then spread their wings and fly
I love your butterfly poem, Candy – your rhymes with bug!. I love the way it’s ‘fed with nibbles of ink and syllables’ – great rhyme – and sheds ‘unwanted ideas and trite phrases’ – what a way to describe editing!.

If we could just have our poem butterfly like this… what a lovely process in pruning words for flight.

Love the progress. I see the poem from birth to flight and it’s magnificent!

The transformation from the idea and thoughts to its conclusion in the form of a poem is indeed like the journey of an iridescent butterfly. A lovely metaphor. 🙂

An excellent analogy – I especially like the phrasing of stanza 2.

Love this Candy… I wish every poem did this but not all of mine ever fly. We continue to try though.
