Dolor

Welcome back to Bastet!

This week at B&Ps Shadorma and Beyond we’re taking our inspiration from Autumn Rain by D. H. Lawrence.

Autumn Rain

The plane leaves
fall black and wet
on the lawn;

the cloud sheaves
in heaven’s fields set
droop and are drawn

in falling seeds of rain;
the seed of heaven
on my face

falling — I hear again
like echoes even
that softly pace

heaven’s muffled floor,
the winds that tread
out all the grain

of tears, the store
harvested
in the sheaves of pain

caught up aloft:
the sheaves of dead
men that are slain

now winnowed soft
on the floor of heaven;
manna invisible

of all the pain
here to us given;
finely divisible
falling as rain.

D. H. Lawrence

it was fall
I sat quietly
with my grief
beside me
brown leaves covered the ground
and I mourned each one

  1. For those we directly knew and those we did not.
    My MIL told me once that she would have liked in her life to have visited Pearl Harbor…since she knew, however briefly one of the sailors…
    One day I hope to visit there for her…though I have not a single name, as you say (in other words); “I shall mourn each one.”

    Thank you for your kind words on my piece on this prompt. I think however indirectly or directly, we leave a piece of ourselves with everything we write.

    1. Hello Candy … I wrote my congratulations on the wrong blog for your collaboration for Peace and made a botch of it … you and Mishunderstood have done a splendid job with your collaboration … I’m afraid I wasn’t able to write directly on her blog as the link doesn’t work. Thanks again for all your wonderful work with B&P! Bastet
