we spread a blanket
on the ground
lay down to feel
the world go round
to watch the showy
stars of night
go dancing by-
squeal with delight
to toast celestial
bodies glow
with bread and cheese
and fine pinot
the clouds were heavy
in the sky
they cloaked the stars
from human eye
but we saw stars
in spite of this
we found them in
a moonless kiss
——
What a happy, romantic poem this is – a moonless kiss! I just love that image. The rhyme and rhythm of this was so very enjoyable. Thank you.

A mischievous jauntiness to this – perfect for young love. Reminds me of that famous line from ‘Now, Voyager’ – Don’t lets ask for the moon, we have the stars.’

Ah.. the fireworks of falling in love… the last stanza really moves the stars to a symbolic level.

Just lovely. One can see those stars so clearly when one is with the one loved….sharing wine and bread and cheese….and kisses! You have set an atmospheric scene here!
