there was a place on
the way to work – in the
days when I worked –
a country back road that
twisted and curved
a place where the trees
reached across the asphalt
to hold hands above me
a place where the sun
shone through the leaves
and made a lace pattern
for me to drive over
a place where time felt
like it had slowed down,
had taken a deep breath
where peace flowed through
the open windows and wrapped
me in its arms
—————-
Sounds like a wonderful little place you found, I might be tempted to stop there quite often.
I have always had rather long rides home from work, which gave me plenty of time to unwind
and absorb all that was presented to me out my window.

I used to drive out to such a place to spend my lunch hour; simply adored it; but after retirement, oddly, it lost its luster.

The trees holding hands above you, the sun making a pattern underneath you….no wonder it was a place of peace 🙂 Thanks for linking up today.

I spent some time in Richmond, VA many years ago, and one of the things I recall fondly is how the trees created a tunnel-like effect in so many neighborhoods. The way you express it–holding hands–how delightful.

I can relate to finding that spot where the trees would hold me and wrapped me in its arms ~ In a way, nature is like a mother ~

Tree branches as entwined hands….this is such a beautiful piece and the images are stunning. I take a “long” way home because it goes through stretches of trees, some pasture, by the river…on days I knew would be stressful, I drove this way to work to calm myself before starting the day. What a wonderful place you have taken us to.

Yes.. we live our lives searching for what culture
tells us there is to work for and collect..
the answers sing to us in birds
and falling leaves.. snow
flake crystals.. in
sand as well
as beach..
then one
day we
go home
and never
go back to
that other place..
and a song from
Elton John is ‘the
perfect song’ just for
This named ‘Home Again’..:)
Honestly.. it brings tears to my eyes..
as there is A place inside US that never Grows Old..
It makes me even sadder as people do not feel it any longer…
And
some
never
at
all…
And that my friend is a song of three
REAL HUMAN DIMENSIONS OF HEAVEN..
PURGATORY AND HELL THAT MY CHURCH
AND SCHOOL NEVER WARNS ME ABOUT..:)
And 30 lines is too much yesterday.. But OK NOW..:)

I love the way this sings to my ears. Really nice sound.
Also this:
“the open windows and wrapped
me in its arms”
That great line break that brings rap music into this. I may be one of the only people in the world who feels absolutely at home with the beauties of nature combined with rap music. A lovely duo, I must say. 🙂
Perfect title!
